NEW DELHI: Then I&B ministry has issued notice to a Gujarati news channel, GSTV, for airing content that allegedly "sullies" the image of a leader holding an "esteemed office" and potentially incites violence. The programme that has offended the ministry was titled, 'Gandhi Hatya Koni Jawabdari' (Who is responsible for Gandhi's death), and was against the glorification of Gandhi's assassin, Nathuram Godse.

What has riled the ministry is a thinly-disguised reference to Narendra Modi, who is not named in the programme, but is referred to as a leader who had initiated the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The programme questions whether he ``believes in Gandhian ideology or he is just using his name to earn respect?'' At another time, it asks, "Gandhiji always lived a simple life, whereas he wears a suit worth Rs 9 lakh and moves in expensive cars."
