New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday extended an interim stay on proceedings against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in a criminal defamation case filed against him in a Maharashtra court.
Gandhi was summoned on a complaint registered by Rajesh Kunte of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in a Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) court. Kunte filed a complaint on Gandhi’s comments that purportedly blamed the RSS for Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. The apex court had stayed these proceedings on 8 May.
