Earlier, Union Information & Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu asserted that Central government has been liberal and democratic on the issue of ban on NDTV channel.

Talking exclusively to Doordarshan News and AIR, Venkaiah Naidu told India's public broadcaster that ban has been put on hold after the appeal of the channel last evening. He added that national interest is paramount.

Venkaiah Naidu also said government will work out a policy in this regard. The existing practice of ban on channels is a practice of past government.
