Senior journalist and media adviser to the Chief Minister of Karnataka Dinesh Amin Mattu has lodged a complaint with the Bengaluru police of threats he has received on social platforms.

According to the complaint registered with the Vidhana Soudha police station on Wednesday against four people, Amin Mattu has said that the group had orchestrated an online campaign against him.

He said that an article that he wrote about Swami Vivekananda around three years ago for Kannada daily Prajavani had been posted by a friend of his Facebook. He said that some members of the Facebook group Nilume had abused him in filthy language and had even threatened assault upon reading the article.

Police have registered a case against the administrator of the group Rakesh Shetty and three others under section 66A of the IT Act and Sections 505, 506, 504, and 500 of the IPC.
