Media Unity for Freedom of Press (MUFP) has strongly condemned the highhanded action of Niali police against journalist and social activist Shri Bhabani Parija and urged upon the Chief Minister to order for a high-level probe while ensuring safety of Shri Parija's life and property.
The MUFP has taken a serious view of the allegations of Mr Parija who in his letter to the MUFP has stated : "On the 6th of February evening Niali police forcibly took me to Niali police station without informing me the reason and put me inside the lock-up where I was bound to stand throughout the night. On 7th of February at 10.30 A.M.the police declared me arrested in a G.R CaseNo.1323 of 1990 in which I was on bail. At 2.30 p.m. I was forwarded and was released. I can not express the manner in which the police behaved with me during my stay in the police station".
