Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday approached the Calcutta High Court seeking a probe by an independent agency over the hate speech by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee`s nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
The BJP`s state unit, which had filed a police complaint against Abhishek, a Trinamool Congress MP, who had during a public rally in June threatened to "gouge out eyes and chop off hands" raised against the state`s people, said it was compelled to move the court due to police inaction.
