Scribes of all districts of North Bengal and Sikkim resorted to protest today against the attack on the photo-journalists in Malda Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) allegedly by a section of intern-doctors on Friday evening. They also mourned the killing of Rajdev Ranjan, a senior reporter of Bihar.
The scribes of the district met Sharad Dwivedi, the district magistrate and Syed Waqar Raza demanding immediate and stern action against the intern-doctors against whom complaints were lodged by the injured photo-journalists.
Dwivedi and Raza assured that they would look into the matter and take necessary action. Both the DM and the SP termed the attack on the photo-journalists in MMCH premises as the “most unfortunate incident.”
Ranjit Das, a senior port-folio holder of association of Malda reporters and photographers said that the members of the association might resort to demonstration on Monday if no action was taken against the attackers who injured the photo-journalists.
