Ram Gopal Varma's film Veerappan which received an 'A' certificate from the Censor Board has removed the mention of Prabhakaran, who was convicted for the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Ramu said in an interview to a daily, "The CBFC officials told me that Tamil groups may create problems because of a scene, in which Veerappan says that Prabhakaran killed Rajiv Gandhi. As we were pressed for time, I relented. The problem with the CBFC is that they operate on ancient guidelines that have zero relevance today. Today, we can see anything from anywhere in the world on our mobile phones. In such an atmosphere of social connectivity, it is downright ridiculous for a group of five-six people to be sitting in a room, and deciding what an entire population should or should not watch."
