The controversial anti-Ambedkar page on the social networking site, Facebook, which triggered protests in the suburb of Khar has been
blocked. The police are now looking for the people who uploaded the objectionable content on the website. Facebook has blocked the link
following our request. Now, the culprit will be traced and brought to book, joint commissioner of police (crime) Himanshu Roy said on Wednesday.
Roy said Facebook is in the process of identifying the culprits Internet Protocol (IP) address from its server and is likely to pass
on the information to the Mumbai police soon.
Once we obtained the IP address, the place where it [the page] was uploaded from will be known. We will then identify the creator of the
page, Roy said.
After the crime branch learnt about the link on Facebook on Tuesday, the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell established contact with Facebook officials in the US. Facebook needed a court order to block the link.
The crime branch obtained an order from the Esplanade metropolitan magistrates court and emailed a soft copy to them.
