Kerala police detained 16 persons after they organised a programme on Kashmir, 'Kannur Stands With Kashmir'.
Protestors said their programme was peaceful and they were reciting and singing poems and songs on Kashmir. Some army men and others reportedly accused that the protestors were "engaged in anti-national activities'.
An organiser of the event said that police action was based on complaints by right wing forces and asked "what is unconstitutional about singing Kashmiri poems and song for Kashmir?"
