The Mumbai Press Club in strong words condemns the attack on TV journalists and crew in Nagpur by members of a private residential school.
The attack had taken place when journalists and camera personnel of the Maharashtra 1 and IBN-Lokmat channels were reportedly covering the alleged irregularities in the tribal department-sponsored Ahilyadevi Holkar Anudanit Adivasi Ashramshala at Ukhali village near Nagpur, when they were assaulted by the secretary of the school, Shrikrishana Mate, and his son Mukesh.
What has happened in extremely serious and this is yet another attack on media.
“We at Mumbai Press Club request Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji, who is also the Home minister, to take strict action, against the people who carried out and/or behind the assault” says Rajesh Mascarenhas Secretary of the club.
The club has also request the government once again to come out with a law making attacks on journalists cognizable and non-bailable.
