Even after State-wide protests against targeting journalists in Maoist-insurgency hit Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, journalists here continue to face hostility and threats.

Journalists Prabhat Singh and Deepak Jaiswal from the Dantewada district of Bastar, who walked out of jail on bail last month after they were “implicated” in a case by the police four months ago, recently received threats that their hands and legs would be “chopped off” if they did not mend their ways.

Vice-president of the Vishva Hindu Parishad of Geedaam block of Dantewada district, Mahesh Soni, allegedly suggested in a social media group that journalists like Prabhat Singh should be “shot dead” and their “hands, legs and heads should be chopped off.”
