DMDK founder Vijayakant and his wife Premalatha have moved the Madras High Court seeking to quash 14 criminal defamation cases filed against them by the State government.

Contending that the government and citizen are just like a mother and son, the petitioners said, “If some made an allegation or criticised or raised voice against his mother for his rights and needs, the real mother will appreciate but would never intend to punish her son with imprisonment or jail.”
