A lawyer belonging to the AIADMK advocate wing on Wednesday submitted a petition to the commissioner of police, Trichy, against Rajya Sabha member Sasikala Pushpa alleging that she tried to defame party leader and Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and to damage the party's name by her statement in the Parliament on Monday.

In his petition, the lawyer from Perambalur district appealed to the police to register a defamation case against the MP who was expelled from the party after her outbursts in the Rajya Sabha. Pushpa committed the offences under different sections of the IPC, he stated in the petition.
