The government has booked at least 18 persons from Chenab Valley for allegedly staging anti-India and pro-Kashmir protests on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
These people including two government teachers and Islamic clerics from Kishtwar have been booked for sedition and breach of peace in the district.
Official sources told news agency CNS that a formal First Information Report (FIR) vide number 174/2016 under section 120 B (Criminal Conspiracy), 124 A (Sedition) and 153 A (Promoting Religious Enmity) stands registered against 18 persons in police station Kishtwar after a report submitted by the Duty Magistrate under section 196 Cr PC to the government that a group of people tried to vitiate peace and harmony and even indulged in anti-India sloganeering.
