A group of lawyers on Friday drove mediapersons who had gone to the High Court of Kerala for reporting out of the court rooms and the court complex.
They began threatening eight reporters when they entered the High Court, escorted by a few police officers. While the reporters were attending a hearing before the Chief Justice’s court, one of them was called outside by a lawyer and one of the office-bearers of the Kerala High Court Advocates’ Association. They questioned the reporter of the media’s right to enter the court and report the proceedings. They threatened that they would exhort other lawyers to attack the reporters if they did not leave the court immediately. Within no time, other lawyers began gathering outside the Chief Justice’s court. The reporters inside the court then got in touch with the government pleader of the Chief Justice’s court and informed the person about the threat of physical attack and sought permission to address the Chief Justice.
