The CBI is contemplating to conduct a lie-detection test on certain suspects, including Mohammad Javed and Jinni, in connection with the murder case of Bihar journalist Rajdeo Ranjan. Sources said some suspects are giving conflicting statements and are not cooperating with the investigating agency.

“Decision to conduct a lie-detection test on certain suspects will be taken very soon,” sources said, adding that the agency will first need to seek their consent as legal provisions entail that such a test can not be conducted without their permission. The agency sleuths, who are camping in Siwan (Bihar), are also scrutinising call detail records of Mohammad Javed and Jinni. The duo recently surrendered before the CBI officials. Ranjan, bureau chief of a Hindi daily, was shot dead by criminals near a fruit market in Siwan district on May 13.
