In what could be describe as a dramatic representation of bestial animalism inside the prestigious Manipur University Campus, the Student volunteers belonging to DESAM brutally attack one Imphal-based journalist and also injured another police personnel savagely while both were delivering their duty at Manipur university in pertaining to a standoff between students group.

On Saturday afternoon, heavy standoff took placed between volunteers of DESAM and University Joint Student Co-Ordination Committee (JSCC), after JSCC restricted one gaiety event to be organised at MU Centenary Hall by DESAM in the midst of brewing reservation issue faced by the university students.

JSCC claims that, in the name of an student interaction programmes, DESAM were trying to organised a felicitation programmes for students elected in college election. And, JSCC intervene on learning the development considering the reservation issues. Confrontation between the students took place for hours long at the MU gate, in which JSCC closes and DESAM tried to broke, and in scuffle altogether seven student were also injured.
