Following limitations on the access to cash due to demonetisation decision, people in Kashmir are seeking restoration of mobile Internet services so that they could do online transactions and continue their business activities.
While the demonitisation of Rs 500 and 1000 currency notes have created a crisis situation throughout India, here in the Valley the people are bearing an added brunt decision owing to the closure of mobile Internet services.
“Government is pushing us back to Stone Age. First Internet services were snapped and now demonetization has broken our back. How can we carry out our daily transactions? We are not allow to withdraw more than 4500 rupees per day (the limit now being Rs 2000 only), restoration of mobile services at this point of time will give some reprieve to the business community,” said Tariq Ahmad, a trader from Srinagar downtown.
