Gone are the days when neighbours trusted each other to keep safe in rural parts of India. Surveillance gadgets are making their foray into rural pockets with a heavy demand for CCTV cameras among villagers. And so, orders and inquiries about these cameras are pouring in from the villages, claim owners of stores that sell these security gadgets.
“Even in villages, almost everyone who can afford is more than to keen to get CCTV cameras installed. They are either motivated by a neighbours or the increasing cases of theft. I have personally installed more than 50 cameras in the last three months in different villages,” says Dalwinderjit Singh, who runs a shop on Pakhowal Road.
Another CCTV camera shop owner from Dehlon, Paramjit Singh, adds, “In the past few months, I have received 8 to 10 inquires daily from villages and generally get two to three orders by end of the day.”
