A day after a member of the Jat protest committee was booked for sedition on his ‘beheading’ remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tense atmosphere prevailed at the dharna site in Jassia village of Rohtak district.
Besides slamming PM Modi and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in their speeches, angry protesters targeted the media for broadcasting the controversial speech.
Sombir, a resident of Jassia village, was booked under Sections 124 A (sedition) and 153 A (promoting enmity between groups) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Monday. “Agar aap kaho to hum Modi ka sar kaat denge lekin aapka sar nai jhukne denge (If you say, we will behead Modi but won’t let you down),” Sombir had announced through a microphone addressing a large gathering in the presence of All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti national president Yashpal Malik during Balidan Divas on Sunday.
