A senior correspondent of The Times of India, Lucknow, has received threat from an anonymous person warning him of dire consequences if he did not mend his ways.
The threat letter, scribbled in Hindi was hand delivered at the 16,Rana Pratap Marg office of the newspaper late in the evening on June
8, 2011.
The envelop has the name of Mukesh Agarwal, Dalibagh, written in English as the sender. Taking a serious note of the blatant coercive
method adopted by the anonymous sender, the issue is being taken up with the top police officials to unveil the culprit.
On the face of it, the threat appears to be a result of a series of stories on some recent high-profile murder cases in the city that have
appeared in the newspaper.
Based on TOI investigations, the news reports have exposed some influential persons related to some of these sensational crimes. The threat could be a possible fallout of these stories that are sure to have come as a concern for the persons linked to these cases. Most of these cases are still unsolved and TOI have been following them with proper investigation.
This apart, all other possible dimensions that could lead to the origin of the threat are being looked into closely and carefully by the investigators who are optimistic of a breakthrough in the near future.
