The state government’s decision to bar 3G and 4G internet services in Kashmir is taking a huge toll on the Information Technology (IT) sector, costing the techies more than 70 per cent of their business.
As per the IT entrepreneurs, mobile 3G and 4G are commonly used internet services by the techies who take projects on contract basis.
They said that the snapping of the services was leading to the less output in the sector.
“We have some 15, 000 techies in the valley, out of whom 10, 000 use 4G or 3G services. Wireless solutions are most reliable in this sector, but the ban results in losses. We can say around 70 per cent of our work gets affected,” Chairman of Information Communication Technology Association, Jahangir Raina, told The Kashmir Monitor.
He said that the repeated internet ban by the government was affecting the IT companies’ profile at the national level.
