The administration has banned internet services for two days in Saharanpur district on Thursday after arrest of Bheem Army founder Chandrashekher from Dalhousie of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh.

Pramod Kumar Pandey, district magistrate of Saharanpur, said the ban had been put in wake of messages circulating on WhatsApp and Facebook after Chandrashekher’s arrest. The messages called upon supporters to unite against the arrest. Bheem Army uses social media to keep contact with its supporters and to spread its messages.

Meanwhile, security has also been strengthened in the district in order to prevent any possibility of violence. Additional directer general of police, Meerut zone, Anand Kumar said elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure peace in the district.
