The West Bengal District Administration on Monday extended the restriction imposed on internet services for another eight days in Darjeeling, to halt rumours from spreading through social media.
Earlier on June 20, the state government had also planned to extend the internet service till June 26. But people alleged that the proposed step will violate their freedom of expression.
Scores of people yesterday took out a torch rally here demonstrating a protest, demanding a separate Gorkhaland state.
