Madhur Bhandarkar’s Indu Sarkar has been running into one political mess after another. The film had been labelled as a 'sponsored film' by the Congress party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, before Maharashtra state Congress leader, Sanjay Nirupam wrote a letter to Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Pahlaj Nihalani asking to see the film before it receives its certification. Now, Madhya Pradesh state Congress leaders Vivek Khandelwal and Girish Joshi have requested the Central Circuit Cine Association (CCCA), Indore, to ban the film.
Speaking to Cinestaan.com, Khandewal said, “We have written a letter to Central Circuit Cine Association, single screens, and multiplex owners to not screen the film. Indira Gandhiji was our celebrated leader, and we believe the film is showcasing her in a bad light. We will not allow that to happen. The BJP government had banned Rahul Dholakia’s Parzania (2007) in Gujarat. Then how can they allow this Indu Sarkar to be made? The Vyapam scam in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh has so far seen 48 people being killed. Why don’t they make a film on this? If you are making a film on me, then aren’t you required to get permission from me"
