In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people, including women and children participated in funeral prayers of two martyred youth in Tral and Pahoo areas of Pulwama district, today. Amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans the youth, identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Lone of Amurabad, Tral, and Parwaiz Ahmad Mir of Pohoo, were laid to rest at their native villages.

Early in the morning, thousands of people including women and children had assembled in Tral and Pahoo villages to participate in the funeral prayers.

At least three rounds of funeral prayers were offered for Mukhtar Ahmad Lone at Shah-e-Hamdan ground at Amirabad. A resident who participated in the last rites said the villagers remembered Mukhtar by the name of Omar Mukhtar (renowned Libyan resistance leader). “He was brave, gutsy and helpful,” said the resident.

Dozens of women showered a plateful of candies over his body from the rooftops and windows of their homes amid pro-freedom slogans and freedom songs.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Tral, Pulwama, and adjacent areas against the killings. Mobile and internet services were also suspended in the district.
