Over five months after violent clashes broke out in Delhi University's prestigious Ramjas College, Delhi Police submitted a report in the court saying the footage of students and teachers shouting "anti-national" slogans may be doctored.
The cops have requested different sources, including the Ramjas College administration, for audio-visual evidence to support the claim that "anti-national" slogans were shouted. According to the complaint, slogans such as 'Hum kya maange azadi' (What do we want? Freedom), 'Kashmir maange azadi' (Kashmir wants freedom), 'Bastar maange azadi' (Bastar wants freedom), 'Ye pyari pyari azadi' (This sweet freedom), 'Ye sundar wali azadi' (This beautiful freedom), 'Police tum bahar jao' (Get out, Police) and 'Hamara Umar wapas lao' (Bring our Umar back) were chanted inside the Ramjas College campus on February 21.
"There is no authentic source of the media content and it appears that it has been made from antecedent events such as previous speeches of Umar Khalid. The video footage provided by the Complainant has been collected and is being analysed and shall be submitted for the scrutiny of the forensic lab in due course," the nine-page Action Taken Report (ATR) reads.
