In an interesting case, a consumer court has ordered a telecom company to refund a week's payment pertaining to the period in 2015 when internet services were blocked by government order during the Patidar quota stir.
The Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Ahmedabad (rural) on July 25 asked Bharti Airtel Ltd to pay Rs 44.50 with 12% interest to a Thaltej-resident, Anjana Brahmbhatt, because she could not access the promised internet service package for over a week, from August 27 to September 4, 2015.
Mobile internet services were blocked in Gujarat on government orders during the Patidar quota stir to avoid spread of rumours and to maintain law and order.
