The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has once again denied censor certificate to 'Ka Bodyscapes', the controversial Malayalam film by US-based filmmaker Jayan Cherian. However, following this, the Kerala High Court issued a strongly worded order asking the CBFC to comply with the majority decision of the Board instead of the Board chief taking a unilateral decision.
According the letter by the CBFC Regional Officer in Thiruvananthapuram, issued on August 14, there was no unanimous decision amongst the panel of the Board Members who watched the film on July 28 at Thiruvananthapuram, and hence the Chairman of CBFC, by virtue of the powers conferred on him under proviso to Rule 24(12) of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, decided to recommend that 'Ka Bodyscapes' cannot be sanctioned for public exhibition.
