A day after Medha Khole, senior scientist with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), submitted an application to withdraw her complaint accusing a cook of concealing her caste and marital status, the cook has, in turn, submitted an application with the Sinhagad Road police station demanding legal action against Khole for defaming her.

Cops accepted the cook Nirmala Yadav's application on Sunday evening. Assistant commissioner of police Shivaji Pawar told TOI that although the application has been accepted a complaint hasn't been filed yet. "We will study the application and take a decision," he said.

In her application, Yadav (65) has stated that Khole defamed her by filing a misleading complaint with the police. The complaint and subsequent developments have defamed her, she has claimed.
