Senior Malayalam journalist Sajeev Gopalan was hospitalised after being allegedly assaulted by cops near Varkala town in Kerala on Sunday.
Gopalan, who works for Malayalam newspaper Kalakaumudi, was working on a story about an attack on two girls in the Idava Panchayat in Thiruvanthapuram, The Indian Expressreported. Gopalan had alleged police interference in the case. According to media reports, his assailants also mentioned the case.
According to Times Now, the Kerala Police had manhandled Gopalan and hit him on his head at around 10.30 pm outside his house. When the incident took place, his wife and daughter were also present, the report said.
