The Assam PCC on Monday demanded action against the president of the All India Hindu Sanghati Manch, Debatanu Bhattacharya, who on December 2 had allegedly made some provocative comments at a public meeting in Silchar.
"Recently we have come to know that Debatanu Bhattacharya had made some provocative comments in Silchar while addressing a public meeting. Moreover, we have also got the video of his speech through social media. Such a comment should not be tolerated in Assam. We not only condemn the person for his speech but also demand the government to take stern action against him," PCC vice-president Pradyut Bordoloi said.
He said the government should take the same stance which it had taken in case of Arshad Madani a few days ago. "In the case of Madani, a team of Assam police went to New Delhi to investigate the matter. But Bhattacharya's comments is more sensitive than Madani's, so police should take the same stern action against him," Bordoloi said.
Demanding instant and stern action, Bordoloi said, "The government should lodge a suo moto case against Bhattacharya and should send him to jail. If the government does not take immediate steps, we will conclude that the BJP-led state government supports that leader."
