The first screening of Ravi Jadhav’s Nude at the 22nd International Film Festival of Kerala, scheduled for today, has been cancelled. The festival is awaiting a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification to exhibit the film.

According to the festival’s artistic director, Bina Paul, the film was screened for the CBFC yesterday and the makers expect to receive the certificate tomorrow.

The second screening of the film at the festival is scheduled for tomorrow. “We can only screen the film on Monday if the filmmakers show us the certificate or else the screening will be cancelled,” Bina said.

The film suffered a similar predicament at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa last month. Nude, along with Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s S Durga, were removed by the Union information and braodcasting ministry from the list of films chosen for the Indian Panorama section at IFFI.
