After recommending death to rapists of children aged 12 and below, the Madhya Pradesh government is all set to table a bill in the next assembly session to curb ashlilta (obscenity) on TV channels and social media.
Home minister Bhupendra Singh confirmed the move, telling TOI: "The Jan Suraksha Adhiniyam (the proposed law) will help make public places safer. The bill was envisaged after an increase in crime, especially against women." One of the reasons of the rape of minors is "mental aberration," the minister said. "Social media and TV channels are responsible for this. There is a lot of obscenity served on TV and social media," he said, remarking that the new law will help curb ashlilta on both media.
