The forthcoming Queer Film Festival to be held from April 22 has practised a bit of self-censorship in keeping with the sensibilities of Indian audiences.
The festival director, Sridhar Rangayan, said, There were about 10 films that dealt with adolescent sexuality. We dropped them in keeping with sensibilities of Indian audiences.
Other international films to be screened at the festival followed the rules applicable for all international film festivals and got an exemption certificate from the Union Information and Broadcasting ministry, a process that went off without a hitch thanks to the Supreme Court verdict on Sec 377.
