The Supreme Court on Thursday set up a six-member team, comprising five officers from the CBI and one from the Income Tax department, to analyse content of tapped telephonic conversations of former corporate lobbyist Niira Radia over possible criminality.

Granting four months' time to the team for submitting its report after classifying different kinds of conversations, a Bench led by Justice G S Singhvi said that the the functioning of the team will be supervised by two CBI officers, who will ultimately report to Superintendent of Police, CBI, dealing with the 2G matter.

It added "the overall supervision will be under the Deputy Inspector General, CBI who is looking after the case" while accepting a request by Additional Solicitor General H P Raval that the team would require four months to examine the content and adduce proper reports in court.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan, who appeared for NGO CPIL that has asked for certain conversations to be made public, requested the Bench to also lay down the scheme of examination.
