Former union minister and PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss was arrested by Tamil Nadu police at his residence in Chennai on Friday morning, police said.
Ramadoss told reporters that the arrest was an act of political vendetta. He said the AIADMK would not win a single seat in the 2014 parliament elections.
It is reported that the arrest was made in connection with an alleged hate speech case filed against him. Ramadoss made this speech at a public meeting last year.
On Tuesday, Ramadoss' father and PMK founder S Ramadoss, was arrested for defying police orders and holding protests at Villupuram, around 170 km from Chennai.
Anbumani Ramadoss urged party cadres to hold peaceful protests against the arrests.
Shops and factories in Puducherry have downed shutters following a general strike called by the PMK to protest the arrest of its leader.
