Thejas, a daily newspaper in Malayalam, was given a notice for the cancellation of its publication registration for publishing news and editorials that allegedly 'compromised national security'.
The notice was issued on November 11 by the additional district magistrate of Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram under the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867
The newspaper responded to the notice and refuted the charge. They have, in a reply, stated that all the news items and article referred to were based on official records, news published by national newspapers, articles translated from national papers.
The decision of the Registrar of Newspapers is awaited.
