Giving his opinion on the Sun TV case the Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi has said that denial of security clearance to the Group's 33 channels amounts to denial of the right to run a TV channel, which is a violation of Article 19(1) of the Constitution. He said it infringes of the right of the owners to distribute information and the right of the viewers to other information both of which constitute a fundamental right.His opinion says the mere filing of criminal charges in economic offences in which trial courts were yet to frame charges against the accused does not constitute a threat to economic security or national security.TOI.
