Adanis sue The Wire
The Adani group has filed a Rs 100 crore civil defamation suit against The Wire for an analysis published on November 11, 2017 which asked if it made economic sense for the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation and Gail India to pick up stakes in the Adani group-promoted LNG terminals in Odisha and Gujarat. While the facts of the story were reported by other papers, the website quoted an expert asking how a PSU could justify such a big stake in a private sector company which was already highly leveraged with the banks. The story also said that the Adanis' outstanding debt was the highest for any corporate group in the country.
