There is a new no-no for those who freelance for The Hindu. If you decide to write for The Wire as well you do so at your peril. A former Hindu employee who continued her association with the paper through a weekend column in the Chennai Metro Plus found it abruptly terminated after she wrote a single piece for the website started by former Hindu editor Siddharth Varadarajan, with others. An act which she described in a Facebook Post as "a decision based on pure malice". Three others who took VRS and wrote for the Wire as well have been warned that their writing for The Hindu simultaneously will not be tolerated. And have discontinued doing so.
