Another ‘monitor'

IN Media Watch Briefs | 17/09/2012

In the wake of the recent ‘North East exodus’ related violence, the Government has asked the Home Ministry to set up a dedicated cyber surveillance agency. This agency is supposed to monitor and forewarn the Government of any malicious content that could lead to possible law and order situations. The ministry has also been asked to authorize the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and three other agencies to monitor the web and social media.
