Are they comparable?

Are Indian Muslims comparable to Muslim immigrants in Europe? While both are minorities surely the crucial difference is that Muslims in India  are Indians, not immigrants?  Praveen Swamy in his question to the Belgian Ambassador in the Express `Idea Exchange'  (January 3) seems to forget this. It's the ambassador who points it out. Swamy asks, ``In Europe, you have many models of minority integration - British multi-culturalism, the French assimilation model - yet it seems to be having a problem, much more than India, when it would seem that Muslims in India have many more reasons to be angry.''  Says the ambassador,   "Islam has been in India for many many centuries. Thats the difference with the Muslim population in Europe." A Muslim reader will wonder if not just his  patriotism, even his citizenship  is being questioned now.
