Clarification on 'Decoding BCCL'

IN Opinion | 01/12/2012
It is common for companies to have employee retention schemes in some form or another. My actual annual recurring remuneration is significantly lower than the amount stated.
JAIDEEP BOSE clarifies.

Dear Editor,

This refers to my old friend Paranjoy Guha Thakurta's article, “Decoding BCCL”, in The Hoot.

The article makes a reference to the annual remuneration of senior employees of Bennett, Coleman, including mine, for 2010-11.

I would like to clarify that my total remuneration for the period under reference includes a substantial component (greater than 50%) attributable to adjustment made for retention bonus paid to me, after deducting taxes, in an earlier year. My actual annual recurring remuneration is significantly lower than the amount stated.

It is common for companies to have employee retention schemes in some form or another.

With best regards,
