DD aboard Baloch wagon

IN Media Watch Briefs | 28/08/2016

Doordarshan is trying hard to win brownie points with the PM.  It has joined the govt’s propaganda war over Balochistan. Yesterday, Aug 27, it broadcast an interview with rebel Baloch leader Nawab Brahumdagh Khan Bugti in Geneva, a first for the channel which usually sends a team abroad only if a VVIP is on a visit.  Apparently the idea came from  DD and was approved by the powers that be. Was the channel spurred on by perceived competition from Times Now which had been at hand to speak to the Baloch leader right after the PM made his comments on Balochistan at all party meeting just before Independence Day?   With the PMO perceiving an ally in Times Now, it seemed like somebody had  tipped them off.
