Over the past week programme staff at Doordarshan Kendras across the country have been doing lunch hour gate meetings to protest the sidelining of their cadre by their parent organisation. The largest number demonstrating daily are in Delhi. Their press release says they are being denied promotion and non-professionals are bring brought from outside to head key programme posts. Several programme executives will apparently be retiring without having got a single day’s promotion.
