Girish Nikam’s last show

IN Media Watch Briefs | 09/11/2016

The late Rajya Sabha TV anchor Girish Nikam’s last show was on the NDTV ban. It drew forth these viewpoints: Indira Jaisingh said Article 19  lays down that  free  speech can only be stopped by the authority of law, not a govt panel. Former RAW official Jayadev Ranade said sanitizing a zone from a point of national security and keeping press out was the armed forces’ responsibility. Nigam quoted from air force officers’ press conferences of that period to underline how much information they themselves were giving out. Bhupen Chaubey marveled at a channel which pulled off P Chidambaram’s interview being labeled anti national. The programme was telecast today, Nov 9, with his sign off, “please keep watching and come back same time tomorrow.” His homework and sparing moderation  will be missed.
