Rajyavardhan Rathore, minister of state for information and broadcasting, today made a strong pitch for government giving people greater access to information, reports The Indian Express. “We need to open up. Typically, governments have been with iron curtains all around. But today time is changing, so we first need to change our mindset,” Rathore said, while inaugurating a workshop for government officials on how to use Facebook more effectively. The minister told officials of the Press Information Bureau, who look after the government’s communication efforts, that the process of how information flows from decision makers to disseminators needs to get faster and social media can play a key role in achieving that.
