Job cuts are looming large at The Telegraph, the Kolkata-based English language daily of the Ananda Bazar Patrika Group. Employees came to know last week that a substantial percentage of jobs across editorial and marketing may be on the chopping block. Several regular pages are being scrapped as is The Telegraph's popular Sunday magazine, Graphiti. Reportedly, the paper has been making huge losses lately. The downsizing comes after ABP's longtime chief editor Aveek Sarkar stepped down in June this year. His brother Arup Sarkar, who is helming the group now, is said to be a businessman who doesn't baulk at taking hard decisions.
